Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) announced on Monday the appointment of Cobus Roodt as the new Women's Cricket coach for Western Province. Cobus who is known for his strong work ethic has been involved with women's cricket for more than five years and brings vast experience to the side that lost in the finals of the CSA Women's Cricket Provincial Competition last season. He was also appointed by Cricket South Africa to be the women's cricket regional coach for the East and West regions. Under his leadership, his cricket club (Bellville Cricket Club) won the WPCA Women's Cricket 1 Day Competition twice.

The Western Province Women's squad for the 2012/13 season has also been announced. Nineteen players from around the Cape Town region will represent Western Province in the Cricket South Africa Women's Cricket Competition in the 2012/13 season. The squad will also be led by the new captain Alexis Le Breton who takes over from national woman's player Shandre Fritz.

On Wednesday, 18 July 2012 WPCA announced Faiek Davids as the new Western Province First Class Provincial Coach for the 2012/13 season. Faiek is a former First Class South African Cricketeter and former assistant coach of the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras. He also has a ten year career in rugby which lead to playing for the national side.

The First Class Provincial Squad for the 2012/13 season has also been announced. Thirty-four players from accross Cape Town have been selected to represent Western Province in the coming 2012/13 Cricket South Africa First Class Provincial Three-Day and One-Day Competitions.

General Manager of WPCA, Nabeal Dien said ''we are excited about the squad as well as the coach. All these players have done very well through the past season if not as incumbents for the province. They produced the results in the WPCA club cricket set up. We will continue to run this outfit professionally and continue to produce players for the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras as well as what has become accustomed - producing for other franchises in the country.''

The 14th annual KFC Mini-Cricket seminar ended on a high note, leaving its 156 delegates looking forward to the next 30 years of the programme. The seminar, which took place from 01 to 04 July at the San Lameer Hotel & Resort on the KZN South Coast  saw the country's mini-cricket coaches and co-ordinators gather for a feedback and brain storming session to help plot the way forward for the upcoming season. CSA and KFC also used the opportunity to thank all the often forgotten volunteers and foot soldiers of this essential programme for all their hard work and dedication for the past 30 years.
