A visit to a specialist and a scan confirmed the worst. A disappointed Kemp said that if the injury does not heal properly, an operation to the wrist would be inevitable.
This could rule him out for another three to four months.
“I have had three cortisone injections to the wrist,” he added.
“I will pay the specialist another visit on 1st November and then I will know,” he added.
Kemp scored 234 runs at an average of 33.42 in the Momentum One Day Cup competition. He nabbed out 11 batsmen as seam bowler at an excellent economy rate of 4.36 and an average of 27.45.
His all-round skills will be missed and the balance of the team might be impact by his absence.
The injured off-spinner Dane Piedt will have surgery in Bellville on Thursday, and will be out for six weeks. “But I will be ready for the series against the West Indies,” said Piedt.
Piedt finished with a match haul of eight for 152 in his test debut for South Africa against Zimbabwe.
Justin Ontong, the injured Nashua Cape Cobras skipper, said at the net practice on Tuesday that he is still experiencing a bit of discomfort in his lower back. Ontong batted for a prolonged period.
Clifford Dodgen, the Cobras’ operational team manager, said Ontong will definitely travel with the team to Kimberley for the opening match of the Momentum One Day Cup series against the Chevrolet Knights. He would be ready to play, said Dodgen.
