Ferisco Adams, Dane Paterson, GF Linde and Sybrand Engelbrecht are exciting young bowlers who hardly played in last season’s Ram Slam T20 Challenge. (Engelbrecht would point to the fact that he scored 56 in the final against the Sunfoil Dolphins in February at Newlands).
Adams said on Tuesday the Cobras have backed the squad that beat The Unlimited Titans by four runs in a Ram Slam T20 Challenge game on Sunday.
“Rory started the build-up to his rehabilitation. He operated at 50 % off a short run,” added Adams.
“On Sunday, we compiled a good score with the bat. At times, we did not bowl smart. But you have to take your hat off to Kieron Pollard. It was a magnificent performance with bat and ball,” he added.
“He knew what the batsmen were going to do. He summed up the situation and bowled where batsmen were going to mishit it nine times out of ten. There were no Yorkers,” he added.
Adams said he wants the Cobras to play at a high level of intensity on Friday in their domestic T20-clash against the Dolphins at Kingsmead in Durban.
“Soft moments and loss of concentration saw us lose two quick wickets at times,” he said about the two T20-performances the past weekend.
“We have got to be mentally stronger at certain stages.”
The Cobras squad for the match against the Sunfoil Dolphins on Friday is: Justin Ontong (capt), Andrew Puttick, Dane Paterson, Dane Vilas, Ferisco Adams, George F Linde, Kieron Pollard, Lizaad Williams, Mthokozisi Shezi, Omphile Ramela, Richard Levi, Shaheen Khan, Sybrand Engelbrecht.
