The new boards were named at the annual general meeting of the WPPC and WCC at Newlands and the WPCA vice president, Adv Nicolas Kock, was selected to serve on both boards.
In line with the SASCOC’s restructuring of the geopolitical boundaries, South Western Districts (SWD) has joined the Western Cape cricket family.
“The transition went according to plan and we hope this relationship strengthens the region. The president (Rudolf Claassen) and CEO (Albertus Kennedy) were also appointed as directors on the WCC Board,” said Nabeal Dien, chief executive officer of the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA).
Dien assured the boards of the committed efforts to secure a team and title sponsor for the Cape Cobras and said plans in this regard are firmly on track.
Newlands will host 18 internationals in the next four years, and the boards discussed plans to maximise the business-benefits in terms of vendor agreements and advertisement at the stadium.
The boards are:
WPPC: Graham Abrahams (chairperson), Brandon Foot, Motheo Matsau, Mohamed Bhyat, Beresford Williams, Nicolas Kock, Omar Sonday, Ashraf Burns (alternative director for WPCA),Fezile Mguqulwa.
WCC: Angelo Carolissen (Chairperson), Beresford Williams (Deputy Chairperson), Albertus Kennedy, Rudi Claassen, Andrew Philander, Nicolas Kock, Trevor Blake, Fezile Mguqulwa (alternate director for WPPC), Graham Abrahams, Nathan Cupido, Jeremy Fredericks
