They lost by 16 runs to the Chevrolet Warriors at St. George’s Park and were agonizingly close to a win at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley the weekend, where the Chevrolet Knights finished on 263 for nine in their second innings, hanging on for dear life while still 27 runs away from victory.
“We have rediscovered our attacking brand of cricket. We are not waiting for things to happen, and first attempt to bat opponents out of the game. We make things happen,” said Adams.
He said that pro-active approach will be their template for the rest of the competition. “We are going for the wins,” he added.
Injuries and call-ups to the South Africa A-team and Proteas-squad have left the Cobras with a lack of cohesion and experience in their four-day campaign.
The defending champions are seemingly out of the title-race on 28.06 points, more than sixty points behind the bizhub Highveld Lions.
The Wanderers-based franchise is the table-topping team with 89.12 points (although they have played one more match than the Cobras).
The South African left-arm swing bowler Beuran Hendricks has suffered a hamstring-injury and will not be considered for selection for the Sunfoil Series match against The Unlimited Titans starting at Boland Park in Paarl on Thursday.
The left-arm spinner Robin Peterson has still not fully recovered from a side strain and will also be out of action.
Justin Ontong might also miss the four-day clash against the Titans, as his wife, Lee-Anne Ontong, is due to give birth shortly.
Adams was full of praise for the performances by the fast bowlers Travis Muller and Dane Paterson in Kimberley and said they were superb against the Knights.
The off-spinner Dane Piedt came under tremendous pressure in the first innings against the Knights, but there was a marked improvement in the second innings, he said.
Hendricks bowled well in patches, but faded a touch at the back-end of spells, as match fitness is still a factor, according to Adams.
Both Hendricks and Piedt are coming off extended spells on the side-lines due to injury. Both were splendid during the triumphant 2013/2014-season for the Cape franchise.
