RECORD SCORES FOR WOMAN AT BELLVILLE

In a women's 50 overs club match played at Bellville on Sunday, champions Bellville scored a record 573 runs for one wicket, with Western Province captain Olivia Anderson scoring 269 not out whilst Province all-rounder Leighshe Jacobs finished her innings with 173 not out. 

Batting first for Belliville, Anderson and Robyn Appels put on a brisk 200 in 20 overs for the first wicket. When Appels was bowled for 70, Jacobs joined Anderson, and the experienced pair put on an unbeaten partnership of 373 at a rate of more than 12 an over. The exhausted Tygerberg players were then dismissed for 40. Although the contest was a bit of a mismatch, featuring the league’s newest club against the current champions, it provided a number of provincial players with valuable time in the middle, and the Tygerberg girls with valuable, if bruising, experience.
