This serves to inform you that on receipt of a letter from SA Schhools on 09 May 2012 and further clarification in a Cricket SA Development Committee meeting on Thursday 03 May 2012, it has become necessary to postpone the WPCA Youth AGM scheduled to take place on Monday 21 May 2012 until later in the year (probably August or September 2012) for the following reasons: - Sport and Recreation SA as well as the Department of Education have provided guidelines for Code Committees to be implemented by the end of 2012.
- Since we already have most structures in place as required by the Schools Sport document, there are still structures that need to be initiated and implemented, the most significant being the formation of District structures.
- The document and proposed changes will impact on our constitution and thus this requires the necessary processes and timeframes to ensure these amendments are circulated and inserted before an AGM takes place where they will be accepted.
- All nominations received thus far will be held until such time that a final date for the AGM is finalised.
- All other processes and procedures with respect to Youth Cricket and the present WP Youth Executive Committee will remain in place until the AGM.
If any further information and/or clarity is required, please do not hesitate to contact the WPCA General Manager Nabeal Dien on +27 21 657 2035 , nabeald@cricket.co.za--ENDS--

Find enclosed the complete Appeals Hearing outcome of the Glamorgan/UCT case. We all know in society rules and laws govern on existence often whether we agree with it or not. Similarily in cricket we have by laws, codes of conduct and playing conditions which govern our game and which we all agree on via structures. General Council which is a council of all our clubs discuss/debate and accept policy. All by-laws before they are published in on said handbooks in most instance accepted unanimously these are normally traversed by way of intense consultation. As in law when these conditions are transgressed, penalties (from mild to severe) are instituted. In this case the Local Leagues Committee and Appeals Committee applied their minds with all the documentation before them and provided the said outcome which unfortunately was not in favour of Glamorgan Cricket Club. Our constitution is clear that this matter is now closed at Western Province Cricket. However as in most cases Glamorgan Cricket Club have the right to escalate the matter to Cricket South Africa which we will facilitate for them. All other details will become clearer when the attached outcome is read.

Did you know? In the 12 months between February 2011 and February 2012, the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras and the amateur teams of Western Province and Boland held an unprecedented ‘Grand Slam’ of eight out of eight trophies and tournaments in South African domestic cricket. The following trophies and tournaments were won in those 12 months: - Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras in Supersport Series (February 2011)
- Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras in Standard Bank Pro20 (March 2011)
- Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras in CSA One Day Cup (December 2011)
- Western Province winners of the CSA Three Day Challenge
- Western Province winners of the CSA One Day Challenge
- Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras Cubs winners of the annual Cricket South Africa Cubs Week held in Stellenbosch
- Boland and WP schools chosen for feature match at Coca Cola Khaya Majola Week held in Cape Town. (No official winner)
- Paarl Boys high winner of the Cricket South Africa T20 competition for schools.
Champions in eight formats in 12 months – this is an achievement of which we can be justifiably proud. In addition the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras also once again participated in the Champions League in India in October 2011 and they were also awarded the Team of the Year Award at the Western Cape Government’s annual sports award ceremony earlier this year. No less than ten Cape Cobras players were called up for the national team in the 2011/12 season. Three of them set world records. Vernon Philander became the quickest bowler since 1886 to reach fifty test wickets in a sensational entry to test cricket. Richard Levi scored the fastest 20/20 hundred against New Zealand (and also broke the record for the fastest SA One-Day Domestic hundred). Dane Vilas bettered the great Gilchrist and Marsh’s achievements as a wicket-keeper in scoring 186 runs and taking ten dismissals in the same match.
