Catalyst Victoria CC won the toss and elected to bat first. Jordan Leppan opened the bowling for UCT and had a great start to his game. Both openers, Gareth Dreyer (4) and Byron Wyngaard (0) went out cheaply to see Victoria Catalyst CC in trouble on 4 for 2 in the first over of the game. Myles Williamson was the next man to fall scoring only nine runs before being caught and bowled by James Strang.
Ryan Daniels and Marco Wyngaard helped rebuild the innings, scoring a 51-run fourth wicket partnership to take the total to 65 runs. Wayne Lombard was the one to break the partnership, rattling the stumps of Daniels. Top scorer Marco Wyngaard (35) departed in the 16th over when he was trapped leg before wicket by Tendai Chitongo with the score on 99 for 5.
Keenan Ward (26*) and Dean Oosterwyk (9*) finished their innings, taking the score to 125 for 6.
Grant Edmeades was the pick of the bowlers for UCT grabbing 1 wicket and going for only 15 runs in his allotted 4 overs.
UCT CC went in next. Ryan Maron was first to fall when he was run out with his score on 8. Jack Newby showed great class playing decent innings scoring 40 runs but was also the victim of another run out.
UCT showed good form at times but kept losing wickets due to bad decision making. In total UCT lost four wickets to run outs. They fell short by 5 runs scoring a total of 120 all out in the twentieth over.
Dean Oosterwyk and Byron Wyngaard were the standout performers with the ball close to the end of the innings. Byron took one wicket and got a run out in his over and Oosterwyk took two wickets at the end to seal the victory for Catalyst Victoria CC.
