A half-century by Alinda van der Merwe (51 off 53 balls), followed by 20s from Anri Grobbelaar (24) and Sarah Smith (20) took the Cape side to a competitive 133/4 at the end of their allotted overs after electing to bat first in the morning.
In the afternoon, Sarah Smith smashed 82 runs in 49 balls (12 fours), leading WP to 175/4 after being put in to bat first by KZN Inland. They did well with the ball in hand as well, Nosipho Vezi took 3/7 with Aja la Grange chipping in with a notable 2/1 in two overs as the Inland side were bowled out for 29 with 18 balls to spare.
In other matches, KZN Coastal denied Easterns victory in their afternoon clash, beating them by 12 runs, while Gauteng enjoyed a double victory when they beat KZN Inland by 59 runs and Limpopo by 35 later on.
North West also achieved dual wins, claiming a 32-run triumph over Kei and holding their nerve for success by 11 runs over Mpumalanga. The latter also suffered a 36-run defeat to Eastern Province, the last team to win both fixtures, earlier in the day. They wrapped up their day well with a 21-run win over Kei.
Elsewhere, Free State bounced back from their morning, 41-run loss against Border to beat Northern Cape by five wickets in the afternoon. A disappointing end to the day for the Northern Cape after they edged South Western Districts by three wickets earlier on.
Finally, SWD responded well to their morning loss, beating Border by 24 runs in the afternoon to end the day on a positive note.
