At the start of play on day two, WP stood at 147 for 2 off of 36 overs. WP had a bad start to the day, losing five wickets for just 17 runs taking them to 164 for 7. Sybrand Engelbrecht and George Linde helped save the innings by scoring a 148-run eighth wicket partnership.
Engelbrecht was first to go for a well played 76 runs (off 131) off the bowling of Thandolwethu Mnyaka with Border wicketkeeper Abongile Sodumo taking the catch. Linde fell soon after having added 80 runs (off 134) to the partnership. WP was then eventually bowled out for a decent 323 runs in their first innings giving them a lead of 160 runs over Border.
Border went in for their second innings and got off to a difficult start. They lost their first three wickets for only 44 runs before Burton de Wett (51) and Somila Seyibokwe (54) started rebuilding their innings, scoring a 102 run third wicket partnership, taking them to 146 runs for 3 at stumps on Day 2.
Shaheen Kahn, Thokozani Peter and Dane Paterson each took a wicket in Border’s second innings.
