WP won the toss and elected to bat first. The home team had a dismal innings’ start when they lost four wickets in a space of just 4.1 overs for 10 runs. Michael Pote and Bradley Barnes recuperated WP’s innings to put up a 60 run fifth wicket partnership, however the stand was broken when Barnes got run out for 24. Pote finished undefeated on 50 off 48 balls to help WP score 110 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
Griquas also had a gloomy innings’ start when they lost their first two wickets in two overs. Aubrey Swanepoel batted his way to 31 off 36 balls before being stumped by Barnes but Werner Coetsee was the only other batsman to reach double figures for the visitors and ended with a rapid 44 off 26 balls with one four and three sixes to secure victory for his team in the 19th over with three wickets in hand.
