This year the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras team & support staff will team up with radio partner KFM’s Breakfast Team to unite as part of helping KFM reach their target of 67 000 sandwiches. Edgemead High has a programme of getting learners to bring in extra sandwiches for underprivileged schools in the area. On Mandela Day, they make this bigger and invite past learners and others to join them in making sandwiches to more people than usual.
The Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras were proud brand ambassadors for the Nelson Mandela Foundation in 2011 wearing the famous 46664 on their chests and sleeves when they represented South Africa in the Champions League T20 in India.
Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras Coach, Paul Adams says, “Mandela Day is not only a celebration of Madiba’s birthday but also of the legacy which he represents. The Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras are happy to give more than 67 minutes back to our communities. This is where the fans who support us come from”.
