The Western Province side won the toss and captain Alexis le Breton sent KZN in to bat first. Dinesha Devnarain top scored for KZN with 84 runs. At the end of the innings, good partnerships for the KZN team led them to 180 runs in their given 50 overs.

After the innings break, WP started off their innings needing 181 runs off 50 overs to make sure of another One Day Challenge Cup. WP lost two early wickets, but Robyn Appels (20) and Le Breton (76*) scored a 3rd wicket partnership of 41 runs to get them back in the game. Wickets fell again at a stage, but le Breton kept her nerve and played a very good captain’s innings to guide her team to victory in the 50th over.
WP Women’s coach, Cobus Roodt was very happy with his team’s performance and said that they had to dig really deep today, but their character and determination came through and ensured them of the win in the end.
