Mnyanda and Brendon Louw came in and together they constructed a crucial 133-run fourth wicket partnership to bring their team back into the game. Aviwe Mgijima came in and gave Western Province the breakthrough when he trapped Louw for lbw for 61 runs.
Mnyanda was further involved in another crucial 82-run fifth wicket partnership with Pieter Stuurman (87). This partnership took their team to the 250 mark, reducing WP’s lead significantly. Mnyanda eventually fell to the hands of Matthew Kleinveldt for a well-constructed 109 runs.
SWD’s remaining batsmen carried the team through the innings before captain McMillan called for a declaration at 364 for nine in 100 overs. Giving them a lead of 69 runs.
Although the conditions were favoring batsmen, WP bowlers fought hard to reduce the home team from a significant lead. Mgijima returned with three wickets for 62 runs while Travis Muller, Matthew Kleinveldt and Jason Smith all returned with 2 wickets apiece.
WP were 21 for no loss at close of Day 2. They trail by 48 runs with ten wickets remaining.
