The 90-minute function will take place in the President’s Suite on Thursday 3 January, commencing half-an-hour after play ends (+-19h00). We are excited that the City of Cape Town will be co-hosting the event this year, as well as our new PLAYERS’ DAY, planned for Day 2 of the test every January. This will become part of the City’s Tweede Nuwejaar celebrations, highlighting the two long-standing turn-of-the-year cultural traditions in Cape Town, namely the minstrels and the cricket. The Mayor, Patricia de Lille, will be in attendance. Around 150 former Western Province and Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras players have been invited to watch the cricket and attend the function later. The event will also be filmed as part of the Cobras Mania series on Super Sport. Our Rolls Royce batsman, J.P. Duminy, will speak on the life and views of a modern-day cricketer. Beresford Williams, the current WPCA President, will be the Programme Director.
