Pretorius finished with 4 for 42 in 18 overs to restrict WP to 199 in the first innings. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, WP lost a crucial wicket of captain Matthew Kleinveldt in the third ball of their innings to Dillon Stanley, three overs later they lost another important wicket of Michael Pote (4) who was Pretorius’ first victim.
Debutant David Bedingham stepped into the crease to join Sharn Gomes and together they assembled a 90-run third wicket partnership. This critical partnership was broken by Pretorius who dismissed Bedingham for 39 and went on to dismiss Gomes for 53. This was Gomes’ second fifty this season in the competition.
