The youth regional trials began in February and March, where boys and girls from all parts of the Western Province went through series of trials and the cream of the crop were selected by the respective selection age group panels.
The young boys and girls will go into the camps knowing that several stars have been produced from these programmes. Prominent players such as; Zubayr Hamza, Jason Smith, Laura Wolvaardt and Lara Goodall have emerged and benefited from knowledge being imparted at these programmes.
“The Western Province Winter TAP training camps now replaces the traditional Youth Winter Net Programme. By envisioning a more hands-on, concentrated programme, we foresee all our teams being well prepared and well – rounded leading up to their respective end of year tournaments and hopefully gaining life lessons in the process.”- Camilliah Adams, Youth Cricket Co-Ordinator at WPCA
The Winter programme will be followed by the Outdoor programme in the 4th term where each team will play a minimum of 5 games across all formats including our Annual Boland Day, which will serve as preparation for the End Year National tournaments.
