The Titans won the toss and elected to field which proved to be the right decision as they won the match by 6 wickets with 3 balls remaining, courtesy of the DL method.
Richard Levi was the first man to fall after being trapped LBW by Roelof van der Merwe for 0 (3). Graeme Smith stepped to the crease where he and fellow Protea, Hashim Amla, took charge of the innings and took the game to the Titans tearing through their bowling attack. Amla rushed to a quick 48 off 29 balls before being dismissed by Rowan Richards. Richards picked up a second wicket off the very next ball trapping JP Duminy LBW. Smith fell shortly afterwards as he went for a big hit but was caught on the boundary by Heino Kuhn who took a superb catch. Shortly after Skipper Justin Ontong and Dane Vilas came to the crease, rain fell which brought an end to the Cobras innings at 96/4 in 13.1 overs.
The Titans had to chase a target of 89 off 10 overs in order to win the game. Rory Kleinveldt made an early breakthrough by capturing the wicket of Titans danger-man, Faf du Plessis, for a duck. The Cobra’s inform bowler, Beuran Hendricks, also managed to capture an early wicket in his opening over, dismissing Mangaliso Mosehlefor 0, before bowling two no balls and going for 12 runs in the over. Justin Kemp took 2 wickets for 10 runs in his 2 overs but unfortunately the Cobras bowling attack could not stop the likes of Farhaan Behardien and Albie Morkel who paved the way to a Titans victory.
