Sharn Gomes (84), who scored his maiden half century in the first class level and captain Kleinveldt (83) put WP in command in the first day of play when they produced a first wicket partnership of 178 runs in 53 overs. Their partnership was assisted by Qaasim Adams and Sybrand Engelbrecht who put together a fourth wicket partnership of 65 runs to help WP secure a first innings target of 365.
Boland batsmen failed to produce partnerships with the highest partnership being 41 runs between Keegan Petersen and Godfrey Stevens in the second innings. As a result they were bowled all out for 143 runs in first innings and were put on a follow-on before getting bowled all out for 118 in the second innings. Off-breaker, Dane Piedt showed no respect for the Boland batsmen on a wicket that favoured spinning conditions when he returned home with overall figures of eight wickets for 62 runs in 33.5 overs to give his team the hard-earned victory.
