The Momentum Multiply State of Origin North vs. South match forms part of the Cell C Festival of Cricket taking place at Sahara Park Newlands from 3 – 5 January 2014. Intended to deliver as much fun as possible, the festival incorporates interesting matches such as the Proteas vs. Springboks, the public vote-driven North vs. South challenge and the Momentum Protea Ladies North vs. South match.
In between matches, spectators will be entertained by top bands and musicians Prime Circle, The Graeme Watkins Project, BlackByrd, Jack Parow and the Marc Belling Band.
Plenty of food and beverage stalls will be open offering something for everyone. The Momentum Family Area will be up and running throughout the festival and other family fun activities during the festival include cricket coaching, a hit-a-six competition and signing sessions.
The North vs. South match takes place on 4 January 2013 and teams will be decided by popular public vote. Fans can pick their favourite players by sms-ing their pick from the lists, to either North or South teams to 45732. SMS are charged at R1.50/sms.
As of Wednesday, 18 December 2013 the team picks are as follows (the highlighted players are those in the prospective squads and those in italics are on the fringes of selection):
In keeping with Momentum’s trend of allowing fans to present match awards, a lucky Multiply member at the match will be chosen to hand over the Man-of-the-Match trophy, live on TV during the post match interviews.
Commenting on Momentum Multiply’s support of the festival, Carel Bosman, head partner relations said, “Being part of the South African cricket community has enabled us to connect with so many more people. Multiply is about wellness and rewards and this festival is perfectly aligned to what Momentum Multiply stands for in this instance – an active healthy lifestyle and stress-free quality time with family and friends. Reward yourself, you deserve it. Our support of the festival will hopefully contribute to this vibe"
Cape Town during the festive season is simply not cricket without cricket at Newlands, so don’t miss out. Tickets for all three days are available from www.ticketpros.co.za, the Sahara Park Newlands Ticket Office or at Postnet Outlets.
