After winning the toss, EP decided to bat first. They got off to a terrible start losing two early wickets in the third over. Edward Moore fell first off the bowling of Brendan Young, as he edged a delivery to Sybrand Engelbrecht at slip. Two balls later, Kelly Smuts was run out by Shaheen Khan and EP saw themselves in a world of trouble on 9 for 2.
