After losing the toss and being sent in to bat first, WP started off well with an opening partnership of 88 before debutant Clyde Fortuin was dismissed by Ockert Erasmus for an impressive maiden half-century (52) off just 38 balls. Alistair Gray fell shortly afterwards for 38 when he was caught by Zaheer Lorgat off good bowling by spinner Michael Loubser. The opening partnership between Gray and Fortuin laid the foundation for WP’s innings and the team posted a total of 149/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Boland struggled to get going during their innings and the WP bowling attack proved to be too strong for their opposition. Dane Piedt whom was unfortunate not to get a wicket, bowled well to end off with figures of 11 runs in 3 overs. But the star of the WP bowling attack was their T20 debutant, medium-pacer, Brian Shushu who claimed 3 wickets for 18 runs in his three over spell. He was assisted by Dane Patterson and Alistair Gray who picked up 2 wickets apiece. The strength of the WP bowling attack caused Boland to fall short of the target and concluded their innings on 124/8 in 20 overs. Losing the match by 25 runs.
