Born in Cape Town and educated at Cravensby High School, Khan made his first-class debut for Western Province in their three-day amateur competition in 2011/2012.
His all-round class in the 2013/2014-competition aided their successful quest for silverware. He captured 30 wickets at an average of 14.60 and a strike-rate of 31.3.
As a batsman, he struck 338 runs an averaged 42.25 in the amateur campaign.
Khan also featured in the Cobras pursuit of the Momentum One-Day Cup in 2013/2014. He took eight wickets in the domestic one-day showpiece, and averaged 24 with the bat.
His ability to adapt to the shorter formats was evident in the opening match of Momentum One Day Cup competition of 2014/2015.
He nipped out four for 38 for the Cobras against the Chevrolet Knights in Kimberley to power the visitors to an emphatic seven-wicket win.
